Peace starts on your plate.
How can you get involved?
We would like to ask you to take a stand against violence and cruelty and remember that peace starts with you and your choices and leave animals off your plate. If you stop eating them, they will stop killing them ! It’s that simple. Supply and demand drives the Agricultural industry, they are driven by profit.
We all can make a huge difference to the animals by just leaving them off our dinner plate. We can cast a vote with our money , choosing not to support cruelty.
It’s never been easier to go Vegan. So why not give it a go?

This documentary from 2005 has been a huge influence on generations of vegans. Please watch it all the way through.
FRIEND has always been a Vegan Sanctuary promoting ethical Veganism since our founder Marion Eaton first envisioned a place for those abused and neglected beings to find a safe, life long home, this is our reason for existing. However promoting ethical Veganism is the way to stop the horror of the Agriculture industries practice worldwide and as such has always been a focus of our work. How can we rescue and care for our residents, know them as the incredibly sentient beings that they are and not do everything we can to stop their abuse and slaughter.
HERE WITH US NOT FOR US
This is the simplest way to understand ethical Veganism:
We are sharing the Planet with other beings.
They exist here as we do.
They are sentient beings, as we are.
They are not here for us to use or abuse in any way despite what we may have previously learned.
Once you begin to understand this, everything else falls into place.
Do we even need to eat animal products?
Increasingly studies are showing us all that a diet full of meat and dairy is incredibly bad for our health. In fact many studies suggest that meat, especially processed meat is in fact carcinogenic, it gives you cancer. Heart disease is linked to meat consumption and dairy is just as harmful casomorphins found in milk products are linked to diabetes and cardiovascular disease too.
In contrast a diet full of fresh veggies and fruit with no dairy or meat actually supports a healthy body and can reverse some debilitating conditions. Plus it tastes absolutely amazing !

What is the Animal Agriculture industry doing to our Planet?
Many people are choosing Veganism as they are concerned about the devastating effects of the huge animal agricultural industry on the environment. A unimaginable 70 Billion animals are bred for food Worldwide.
To put that into perspective; Worldwide 60% of all animals are farmed for meat, 36% of mammals are human that’s 96% of all mammals on the planet are humans and animals bred for their food, leaving only 4% left of wild animals alive today (2018 study)
However millions of humans are starving whilst we feed billions of tons of grain to cattle and use up precious water supplies. This insanity has to stop. We are able to literally fed everyone on the Planet if we eat a healthy vegan diet. They are cutting down huge swathes of rich Amazonian rainforests to make way for cattle grazing when these forests are the lungs of the Planet and are vital to our survival.
What ever your initial reason for going Vegan once your actions align with your ethics it feels so good.
Going Vegan isn’t difficult in fact its easy, because once you eat food that is cruelty free, where no one died for your meal it feels great and you will want to keep having that feeling.
Come visit FRIEND this year, meet the animals and make the connection. We grow our vegetables here and serve up delicious vegan food for you to try.
