Come and watch our gentle old cows stepping out the barn for spring

Over the cold winter months the cows live indoors, this protects them from the harshness of winter but also allows the land to rest and replenish itself. They then spend most of the spring, summer and autumn months enjoying the enriched grazing.

Once upon a time when the cows were young they would leap and bound when they were let out the barn giving our special work parties the joy and thrill of seeing them frolic with delight. Of course we now have a wonderful herd of grand, aged cows. Rosie will be 21 this year and the rest of the herd will all be turning 20. These days it can be a bit of an anti climax, we open the barn door and the cows amble out and start grazing, the end. It is a funny contrast to the olden days of leaping and bounding but also a wonderful reminder that we have given these amazing beings 20 years of sanctuary to grow old and live out their lives as naturally as is possible.

A note about parking and transport

We encourage you ideally and where possible to come by public transport and there will be ongoing lifts to and from Paddock Wood station at the start and end of the day. Lifts will be from the side of the station where trains come in from London.

If you come by car we request that when parking you remain mindful of our neighbours. Please don’t park outside our neighbour’s properties and make sure you don’t park in/or block anyone’s driveways. Also please park on the actual road rather than up on the grass verges. Thank you
